Living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social problems, as well as practical problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement. It is an inescapable fact that people who immigrate to another country with foreign speaking language, face to serious problems. It happens especially in the first weeks of immigration. In my opinion, not only new the language but also cultural differences make socialization difficult. However, I do admit that nowadays technology has come to the aid of the people in this issue. Some people claim that the first and foremost reason that having to speak a foreign language can cause social problems is through the breakdown in understanding between people of different cultures. This main disconnecting can affect many aspects of life such as finding job, work communication, making friends or other emotional relations. Maybe for people who are not familiar with the new language the rudimentary needs like find the direction in the street, shopping, order the food in a restaurant or medical situation become a nightmare! Moreover, sometimes we observe the isolation of the immigrants in their location. They can just communicate with other immigrants not native people. The other side of the coin is that by developing technology and availability of many applications on smartphones helps people to overcome their needs. For example google map, google translate, forsquare, waze and many other applications fulfill the important needs of people in a country with a foreign language. Another point of disagreement with this state is the universal acceptance of English. These days in every country you can find people to who can speak and understand English. This knowledge is more than enough to survive the first few weeks in a foreign country. In conclusion, I only partly agree with the statement in question. Not knowing a language when living abroad can cause social unrest but pragmatic concerns have been mitigated by recent technology. And fortunately living in a country with a foreign language is so helpful for learning their language and culture. It is not an Insoluble problem.
