South Pole Social life is sometimes challenging, intolerable and even dangerous, so many people think that they have to live alone. As a result, it may be work for somebody, but real happiness and success happens when you organize your social life with your friends and family. The South Pole is one of three collections that were published by Morteza Ninknahad. His collections are based on the contemporary world, the human condition, and relationships. There is a photograph from South Pole collection that represents a cold environment inside a room that shows loneliness and sadness through three groups of art fundamentals: first of all, composition, secondly, anatomy and finally, color. First of all, the composition in the photo shows loneliness. The photographer "Uses visual elements to direct his viewer's attention to what's important." (Plant, 2013). The coats on the wall that make two triangles lead the audience to look at the man who sits on the chair lonely. Also, the long dividing thin lines on the floor make two different areas between the blue wall and the brown tiles that make create two separate areas between the man and other people. There are six different coats, empty coats without any body which creates make geometric shapes above the room, and they are all vertical rectangles in the background, so they suggest boring people who ignored the man. Therefore, the composition shows the isolation and disconnection from social life cause loneliness for everyone. In photography, anatomy means the position that forms a living thing, such as animals, birds, and people, and photographer uses the man's pose to show the man's feeling who is in the photo sadly. The man is propping to the blue wall and he puts his feet to the buckets. In Iranian culture, they put their feet in the water when they have a fever. The man in the photo may be sick and needs to have some friend for helping him, but they are just empty coats, and nobody isn't there, so he's a lone man who doesn't look at the friends. Also, the man's position who covered himself with a blanket represents the cold area. As a result, cold environment usually conveys sadness and loneliness.Finally, the colors in this photo represent cold and depressing area too. "Color in photography could definitely be seen as the most important factor. It can create mood, emotion, warmth, coldness and much more. Color in an image can also be imperative to the narrative of the image." (Sikorski, 2013). In this photo, the blue wall shows the loneliness in the man's room because blue is a cold color and usually uses to show empty and cold area like the South Pole, mention title of the collection. Also, the attractive contrast between blue and brown causes a different environment between the man and his friends that he disconnects his relation with them. In summary, the whole reactions of alone man show loneliness in his life. In conclusion, there are some elements that the photographer positions them, and he organized colors and the subject's pose against his room's composition for showing the loneliness and sadness environment that the man made for himself. The whole reaction of the man represents the lone person in the isolation area. Therefore, social life may be sometimes challenging, intolerable and even dangerous, but real happiness and success happens when you organize your social life with your friends and family.
