An alternative view is that they can adapt to a new environment by establishing a minority community. Discuss both two views and give your opinion. Many a person nowadays prefers to leave their homeland to pursue their dreams in another country, and this has resulted in many problems for both immigrants and local members of society. Considering the merits and demerits of immigration has divided people into two main groups including those who hold the idea that immigrants ought to keep their very own cultural values, and the opponents who opine that newly arrived persons would rather adjust themselves with to new environments by accepting the culture of the host country. That a vast majority of people are not able to adjust themselves with to a new culture is an indisputable fact, hence the importance of respecting the minorities in each and every community. It goes without saying that people from host societies can widely benefit from the school of thought has brought in by immigrants. Indian spirituality is an outstanding example of the minorities who not only had a widespread impact on the majority of people inside the US, but their culture influenced many others around the globe. Having said that, immigrants do not have to forget that it is incumbent upon them to learn about the host people and their cultural values or the different viewpoints can lead them into isolation from society. Though in many parts of the world people try to respect newcomers despite their differences in a variety of aspects of life, immigrants have to adapt themselves to the new values if they plan to live in the host country for a long period of time especially in case of having children. Hardly can children tolerate rejection from their classmates. To sum up, I maintain that not only do immigrants have to learn the host values, but also they ought to overlook their own ones if they find any contradiction in that those of the host nation if they plan to benefit from this otherwise perfect chance that the destination country provided them. |
