Some people believe that museums should charge for admission while others disagree. Discuss both views and give your opinion. Museums preserve and display countries’ artistic, social, scientific and political heritage. Some people believe that everyone should have access to such important cultural resources. However, others believe that museums should have an admission charge. On the one hand, proponents of free public access to museums claim that museums have a crucial role in preserving and transmitting a nation’s history and inheritance to new generations. Free access will encourage people to find out about their country and other foreign cultures. Furthermore, they believe that museums are an important sources of education. therefore, it is so necessarysignificant that all children have free entry at into many museums because of the educational opportunities. In addition, tourism is an essential sector of a countries’ economy and many visitors will be deterred from visiting a country if they think it will be very expensive to visit its great galleries and museums. However, opponents of gaining free admittance free to museums believe that museums are not funded sufficiently by the government and they are forced to charge for entry because they need money for staff salaries, insurance, electricity costs and maintaining collections. Also, supporters of this view say that today television plays a great role in transmitting cultural heritage and a sense of identity. It reaches into almost every home, both rich and poor and it is an effective way of reaching cultural and educational programs and in this digital world museums are able to perform their educational rolepartly through the internet. Besides, they believe that free accesses to museums causes they them to got get crowded and the quality of a visit decreases. This results in museums limiting visitors and also they might think that “’something that has no price, has no value” To sum up, I would tend to side with the supporters of free admission. It seems to me that everyone should be able to freely access freely to museums’ educational opportunities and cultural resources, regardless of their social or financial statues status.and financial position..
