Discuss both views and give your opinion. Advances in technology may have done much to bridge the various cultures and countries by facilitating telecommunication and teleservices, yet I believe has have failed to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor. It is true that technology has served humanity indiscriminately and has brought about a better life for all people, regardless of their social classes. Removing a great number of formidable obstacles, technology has successfully managed to fulfill many humans’ dreams, thereby making life far more convenient for all people around the world. Improving individual learning, creating the possibility for long-distance transportation and travels, and protecting humans against various diseases and natural disasters, technology, in its broad sense, may have been be regarded as the most distinct advantage which humans’ intelligence has caused brought about over other species. On the contrary, it is believed that shrinking the gap between the affluent sector of society and less fortunate ones is what technology has not accomplished. Despite its great benefits, this significant power possessed by the most thriving species has not been able to bridge the ever-present gulf between the rich and the poor. In fact, it is safe to say that technology may have exacerbated the situation since it has helped wealthy individuals to live a more lavish life. Owning a private jet, wearing state-of-the-art jewelry, and having stunning hobbies, the rich can enjoy their lives even more thanks to what technology has brought for them. In other words, technology acts as a catalyst. The more it advances, the more luxurious life is feasible for more affluent ones. To conclude, as far as technology has improved our lives by the promotion of various aspects of human life, I am inclined to disagree that it has taken any major step in clearing the distinction/inequality/disparity between the rich and the poor lifestyles. |
