Topic: Some people believe that allowing children to make their own choices on everyday matters such as food, clothes, and entertainment is likely to result in society of individuals who think about their own wishes. Other people believe it is important for children to make decision about matters affect them. To T o what extent do you agree or disagree? There is this view supporting the notion that given freedom of choice in making decision regarding daily issues, children tend to be self-centered in their future. However, the opponents of this view insist on the importance of decision making in the areas that involve children. I believe that both of these viewpoints are equally important as there needs to be moderation when it comes to raising children. There are some likely explanations which support the view opposes to give freedom of choice to children in their daily affairs. Firstly, as lacking social skills in the childhood, they do not know how to communicate with other people, not least their authorities, so we will face lack of respect and some disorganization in society. Moreover, in negotiating with others, they cannot make compromise as well as they cannot even handle any opposing views. Finally, the dire subsequence of this chaos will derive to society with people who just observe themselves and their own interests and demands. On the other hand, some people mention the necessity of decision making for children’s upbringing. This view expresses that with giving this opportunity to children, they can boost their self-esteem and foster their creativity. This can learn them decision making skills; in addition, they can learn how to face the consequences of their decisions in their adulthood. Furthermore, this freedom situation can be the experience for them to learn how to think and treat independently otherwise blindly obedient members of society. In conclusion, the both two views have some merits and demerits owing to the reasons mentioned above; therefore, I, personally, believe that reaching the middle line among these two views is the point. In other words, trying to givethem some freedom of choice would be effective provided they are under the subtle control of their parents.
