Page 88-IELTS writing First of all, the definition of right and wrong should be surveyed. It is important to have a correct definition and interpretation for right and wrong things. I am not going to have a philosophical argument in this case. I am not saying there is not any right or wrong, but if we believe in right and wrong, if we believe in morality, we should know that it is not right or moral to define good and bad, right and wrong based on our willing, benefits and even our culture or traditions. Being parents is an important full-time job which needs knowledge, training, study & thought just like other jobs. It is the same for being a teacher. Therefore, we as parents and teachers should be aware of this heavy responsibility. Parents and teachers should think about these things before making decisions and taking actions. They should not be selfish or strike strict in defining good and bad, right and wrong. The next issue as it was mentioned in the topic, is the way they learn teach children right and wrong especially at an early age and if punishment is necessary or not. My answer is “yes”. I think sometimes both encouragement and punishment are required in the path of teaching and training children. At first we should talk to children and explain to them why they are expected to do or not to do something and as much as possible give them reasons in this case. It is better and more effective to learn teach them to do things because of acceptable reasons, not only for our satisfaction. But talking is not always enough. The next step is encouraging them for their good actions and finally punishing them for their bad actions. But what sort of punishments should parents and teachers be allowed to use? It depends on the case. Sometimes we could punish them by using language or even body language. For instance, we could tell them that we are upset because of their behavior or show them our angry face or do not pay attention to them by an indifferent face. Sometimes we should limit their freedom or facilities. For example, we should get their toy, their mobile or ask them to stay in their room for some hours. In upper ages we could also ask them to do something as the punishment for their bad behavior like cleaning the house, washing the dishes, etc. but I disagree with physical punishment like hitting children. I think it never helps. It disturbs their self-confidence and raises anger, hate and fear in them. It is not also morality. We should not develop encourage violence. Apart from how much children would hurt in this way, we should remember that children are the mens and women of future. How do we want a universe and society without war and violence when we do not do it in a small society like our family or our class?. Children see and learn.
