Nowadays, it is widely believed that studying a foreign language at primary schools is more effective than secondary schools as opposed to traditional practices. Drawbacks and benefits of this topic will be covered in this essay. On the one hand, proponents of this view argue that there are many reasons behind of their claims. The most important one is about a recent research which . It reveals that children between 5-9 ages have a greater opportunity to learn new languages. They have the capacity to remember a new language twice as fast as people from other age groups, so . So they can easily pick up the right pronunciation and try to copy it as they are less self-conscious. Naturally, not only are children more curious, but also they are eager to learn new things in this period their tender age. Moreover, givinge the special care and settlinge down a proper curriculum could be profitable for them in this regard. On the other hand, opponents argue/hold/maintain discuss that it could be a waste of time since children need to focus on other subjects such as math and their own mother tongue language. If they have to learn a new language in primary school, they will be loaded with tonnes of irrelevant homework everyday instead of allocating time to studying more useful subjects. Sometimes, children show disrespect and lack of interest in towards foreign languages due to increased workload in schools. Consequently, they may develop a negative attitude toward in learning, especially towards language learning. Furthermore, children may get confused because of learning many languages at the same time which leads to havinge a negative impact on their development. Looking at the points discussed above, we can come to the conclusion that the advantages of learning a foreign language at an early age outweigh the disadvantages and I would argue that children's language acquisition talents innate abilities should be harnessed to make countries more prosperous.
