Nowadays, there is a trend that the media focuses on problems and emergencies rather than positive developments. Some people think it is harmful to individuals and society. to what extent do you agree? It is whether on the radio or television, on a website, negative news stories are these days an intrinsic part of the news media. This is not a problem except that such newsthey often outnumbers positive ones. Although this trend has raised a great deal of concern as it can have adverse effects on viewers, I maintain the primary role of media is to truly reflect/portray the world despite all its cruelty. To begin with, the media's main responsibility is to bring the news to their audience. Any censorship imposed by the authorities or the managers can prove to be a grave mistake although/albeit out of humane reasons. This also may give justification to any embellishment or invention in the news. Granted some programs and scenes can be disturbing, leaving lasting impression on children and younger viewers news outlets cannot sanitize their material just for the sake of having a broader range of audience. A genocide committed in a country, for example, necessitates a comprehensive cover, and albeit extremely disturbing, any reduction would decrease the level of brutality done/committed/perpetrated to victims, hence the devaluation of the mass slaughter. Moreover, overtly delivering the news as it is can open the viewer's eyes to the dark side of the world. That terrorism is only a never-ending horror movie to make us excited and climate change is a myth whereby some NGOs raise money would be a big daydream. Considering the world a utopia, free from any criminals and psychopaths, is almost an impossible fairy tale. This unrealistic, hoary myth should be exploded/debunked by the media otherwise it may burst to us when it is too late. However, this does not mean that news agencies should go overboard and bombard their audience with only negative news in order to keep them attracted, on the edge of their seat. To conclude, although no one can deny that news outlets should keep the balance in delivering news, none should be censored or decorated due to attracting more audience or to be more watchable.
