In some countries, many people do not have enough money to access the internet. Should government be responsible for ensuring that everyone can get access to the internet? In this day and age, having access to the internet easily is a main issue which most of the countries are dealing with. Some countries have offered a multitude of solutions for this issue. One of themone of which is to provide the internet in public centers for free. First of all, accessing the internet requires the modern tools such as smart phones or computers. All of these mean people must spend money to buy expensive devices to connect to the internet. Also, they have to pay money for the internet packages which telecommunication centers offer. Besides, the government should not discriminate between the rich and the poor and the income disparity should not be an obstacle in this issue. For instance, the government can provide internet access via public centers such as libraries, schools, universities and other public places which people use in their daily life. This is why the role of the government is important in this regard. On the other hand, the government is not responsible for providing free internet to all people. However, in poor areas this is different and the government should provide facilities for them. For example, they can be exempt from paying taxes or pay less for internet access. In general, easy internet access helps people to visit internet sites and download information quickly and reliably which in turn leads to their knowledge increasing. So overall, I believe that, today internet access is a human need and governments must make every effort to provide free or cheap access for people.
