327 words / 45 minutes Without a doubt, in the recent century, fossil fuels have been the backbone of development. Nevertheless, the growing scale of their use has posed serious threats not only to human civilization but also to the whole planet. Environmentalists and scientists believe that the only prompt and reasonable way to cope with this catastrophe might be investment in and exploration on of the new sources of energies. The following paragraphs will discuss how urgent the priority is and the measures to address it. It is no secret that global warming and climate change are the consequences of greenhouse gases emissions which are the by-products of every engine and equipment running on fossil fuels. Reliance on this source of energy and exponential growth of their use since the industrial revolution has have reached theirits critical level so that the planet’s ecosystem could not rectify its drawbacks per se. rising temperatures, flash floods, severe droughts and famine are just the initial symptoms of this disastrous phenomenon. Therefore, governments should revise their priorities and do not underestimate the peril of this worldwide issue. However, some countries already use environmentally-friendly energy sources such as solar or wind power, but it seems that there has not been sufficient investment in developing the new technologies to make such alternatives viable for all. Thus, the United Nations should persuade developed countries to stick to/abide by their responsibilities which have been agreed upon and signed by the Paris agreement. To cite a successful example, CFC gas boycotts is an inspiring international collaboration in order to save the protective ozone layer. So, once again governments should agree to invest in exploration and development of renewable energies and transferring the technology to other countries. In conclusion, from my perspective, there is a sense that time is ticking away for our planet and no action by a single country could solve them. Therefore, everyone and particularly authorities should believe that fossil fuels are certainly the most pressing priority, and they have to work in tandem to address this issue. The exploration and development of safe alternative to fossil fuels should be the most important global priority today. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
