To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? There is always a question as to whether immigrating to a new country with a foreign language will bring countless social and practical difficulties to (for) immigrants. Regardless of admitting or denying the idea, it is totally a bare fact which is happening in every newcomer’s life and immigrants need to deal with it. This essay attempts to assess these problems and makes them more clear. It is indisputably obvious that communication is one of the most important aspects of humans’ life and it could be disrupted by the language barrier. Although making gestures may help immigrants satisfy their basic needs, that they are hopelessly unable to talk and share their feelings with natives is (are?) undeniable. In addition, in this environment, cultural misunderstandings are inevitable. The more a newcomer enters (into) the new society, the more cultural misunderstandings arise. The situation is getting worse when an immigrant seeks for a decent job. Not being able (=Being unable) to communicate with peers, customers, and above all managers, drives immigrants to apply for low-level tasks even though they may have high-level education. Take the example of a highly educated foreigner forced to work as a waiter/waitress because of his/her poor language skill. This situation probably leads them into financial (economic?) problems which can affect their whole attitude towards living in that country. In conclusion, I, personally, do agree that there are a lot of issues faced by a newcomer due largely to the language barrier. It should be noted that these difficulties may last for a lifetime. However, the severity of them would be decreased as immigrants master the skill of communicating through the new language.
