- When a country develops its technology, the traditional skills and ways of life die out. It is pointless to try and keep them alive. - To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? Development of technology in a country and its effect on traditional skills is controversy. I broadly subscribe to this opinion that technology development in a country can affect the traditional skills in case local people tend to substitute them with new skills. First, every country has its own traditions and cultures regardless of highly developed technology being used in daily life. It is true that emerge of new technology and new inventions may contribute to practicality and even existence of traditional skills. In an instance, new sewing machines, which developed every day, simply substitute the hand-made sewing; however, the symbolic, traditional clothes that are referred to a specific culture are not vanished due to development of technology in sewing. In addition, local people play critical role in keeping their culture and traditional skills alive. Local people can deliberately decide to benefit from the new technology to spread their culture and their customs more. For example, in spite of highly developed technology in a country like India, Sari the traditional clothes of Indian did not die out since the technology is used in order to export the culture and custom all over the world. In overall, I restate my opinion that development of technology not necessarily can destroy the traditional handicrafts or skills. It overtly depends on how new technology and development in country being used and practiced. In some cases, new technology can even aid the growth and spread of traditional skills which could not be known worldwide before.
