Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Leadership comes naturally. One cannot learn how to develop it. Every living organization, whether it is a small group of people, a corporation or a society consisted consisting of diverse groups of individuals with various ethnic backgrounds, necessitates needs the presence of a leader. While some believe that being a leader is an intrinsic quality that cannot be learned, I think that it can be easily practiced by a prospect candidate as many practical methods could be used, audience’s concerns provide a useful hint and one can imitate other great leaders’ acts. First of all, with the free flow of information, there are unprecedented sources that a person can refer to in order to boost his/her skills. By great achievements in psychological studies, now there are many techniques that can be applied. For example, one of the main factors that should be considered is body language. A leader should meticulously focus on his/her body gestures and watch every movement he/she does, because any unsuitable act could transfer an unwanted message. If a manager of a project in a meeting holds his/her arms crossed across the chest, it indicates a defensive position where the person seems angry or disengaged. Individuals can also focus on how to deliver a moving speech by learning some methods such as regulating their voice tone or when there should be a pause for effect. Therefore, the more harder a leader works hard to improve such abilities, the more confident he/she becomes. Moreover, while for every leader it is necessary to boost their communication skills, knowing your audience’s concerns is also of great importance. Imagine a prospective presidential candidate, who is running a campaign, is about to give a speech in a state where a high crime rate is escalating. It is necessary to raise this issue and present his/her future plans that as to how the troublesome situation will be dealt. That is the reason where many great leaders have their own counseling teams where such issues are carefully scrutinized. The more a leader benefits from a powerful team, the better he/she can draws people’s attention while establishing a reputation. As a consequence, by knowing people’s worries and offering them solutions, one can bring hope to a desperate society. Finally, there are some mutual characteristics among successful leaders that should be considered if one is willing to follow the same path. Imagine Bill Gates, whose company has affected the tech world in on an enormous scale. If someone is willing to establish a similar company, studying Microsoft policies could lighten their way. Not only by observing a leader’s acts, can one can learn a lot, but also there are other useful sources such as the books that are written by the same characters or the speeches they had through the years. For example, by listening to Bill Gates’ powerful speeches, one would learn a lot from him in many aspects; his personality, his worldview and the way he behaves toward his employees. As a result, by following a successful leader’s advices, a prospective leader can make fewer mistakes in his/her way. To sum up, I believe that leadership is not an intrinsic quality. I suggest that documentaries should be made to throw a light on successful leader’s leaders’ lives so that many people learn great lessons, because in this way we will have confident leaders, hopeful and healthy society.
