Mobile phones and the internet have made it easier to stay in contact with other people. However, as a lot of time is spent using telephones and computers, there is less face-to-face contact and direct communication. Is the growing use of communications technology a positive or a negative development for society? In this day and age, the pace of technological enhancement is indeed not comparable with the past. The advent of high-tech means of communication has led to increasing people’s welfare which in turn brings about life satisfaction, even though its side effects cannot be ignored at all. First and foremost, it is an axiom that state-of-the-art technology such as cellphones or the internet has facilitated human life, particularly so as to stay in contact with each other. In other words, everybody is completely able to contact others from anywhere of in the world through such modern devices and the media. I opine its overt advantage is that not only can people call but also they are able to see each other easily. For instance, in emotional terms, those who are far from their relatives can be traumatized less significantly. In addition, nowadays, it has been a common practice for the youth to contact universities’ or companies’ staff in order to achieve more abroad opportunities abroad. Moreover, a mobile phone has a major role to play in emergent emergeciessituations by which plenty of unpleasant phenomena will be mitigated considerably. However, the downside of this moot point cannot be denied. On the psychological side, a large number of people regrettably become addicted unconsciously through continuous use of such novel technological devices. Therefore, they not only spoil their useful time but also cannot give full attention to the individuals who are around them. I strongly believe this trouble can be excessively destructive for immediate family relationships. Last but not least, from a social standpoint, people should foster their teamwork ability which is generally gained through face-to-face communications. My firm conviction is that only if each individual puts histheir every effort into boosting this skill in real world, will they he be content with their both his work and personal life. In conclusion, further to the above explanation, the positive effects of communications technology will outweigh the negative ones provided everyone tries to be responsible for managing the manner of their use in this regard.
