Nowadays technology is increasingly being used to monitor what people are saying and doing (for example, through cell phone tracking and security cameras). In many cases, the people being monitored are unaware that this is happening. Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages? It is true that technological devices have become an indispensable part of our lives which are broadly used for keeping individuals under surveillance. While there are many a disadvantages these devices bring to people's life, they benefit societies in different ways. The merits of installing monitoring devices in cities are numerous. To start with, they can help the government to keep cities under control and find Law breakers such as criminals and traffic offenders. In other words, these devices are being used as an alternative to police officers patrolling the streets. Moreover, in some cases the video evidence can benefit the police and also judicial system to prosecute offenders and bring them to justice. The last but not least is that the monitoring devices can act as a deterrent because mostly misdoers are not likely to commit crime in parts of cities which are being watched with closed circuit video cameras. As always have has been said ''prevention is better than cure''. by installing the monitoring devices the number of crimes will be diminished. In spite of the merits mentioned above, these devices can be an invasion to of individuals' privacy because people are always under surveillance through their cell phones or the video cameras. The personal information of people can be misused by security services or even the cyber identity frauds. In addition, the security firms and the government can abuse this information for destroying their opponents' reputation by revealing their personal secrets such as their private conversations. In my opinion it is not right to use these technological devices on in a way which that curtails individual freedom and also the government and the security services must obey a rule to notnot to use people's private information. Besides, the monitoring devices should be installed in public places with signs which inform people about the existence of them. The obvious conclusion that could be drawn is that the merits of tools which are used to watch people in public places are apparent but there should be a strict law for not invading people's privacy.
