Some people say that in all levels of education, from primary school to universities, too much time is spent on learning facts and not enough on learning practical skills. Do you agree or disagree? Some are of the opinion that the educational system more focuses on theoretical concepts rather than hands-on training. I would agree that skill-based approaches are less of a concern for schools and they mostly hold a theory-based perspective/approach in training students. It is almost true that schools provide students with too much information while they finish high school or university. They are overloaded with a lot of information. However, the problem is they do not have the slightest idea how to apply them in real life. For developing their talent and turning their potentials to skills , the schools need a variety of facilities, and a huge budget is essential to cover such expenses which sounds too good to be true. The teachers only adhere to suffice to books in this system of education. Training knowledgeable individuals is considered their basic mission. In this regard, they are doing their best. It is not to underestimate their effort. A number of institutes provide more facilities such as labs, gyms and they offer extra curricularum programs which are in accordance with fulfilling their potentials. However, that would be idealistic if schools applied more hands- on training such as, problem solving, anger management and or car maintenance. This way they would have more a better sense of competence, confidence and self-fulfillment. In conclusion, although schools are doing their best to be committed to their objectives and they are raising educated students, more serious approaches should be taken into consideration to make practical training as an integral part of their schedules. It is on governments to endorse these projects.
