TOPIC (TASK 2) The money given to help poor countries does not solve the problem of poverty, so rich countries should give other types of help instead. To what extent do you agree or disagree? My answer: There are two different approaches about helping weak countries. One is to directly give them money to poor countries and the second is to use alternative ways of helping such as investment. I totally agree with the latter approach. I believe that giving money to countries in need, will create corruption in their governmental system, in a way that they do not let the money to be really given to the poor people in need. The government may also do not know the most proper way to distribute this amount of money among the people. Maybe be some part of this help will be received by segments that do not really need it or even some privileged people! Also, there may be some misuse of the money, because ordinary people may lack enough knowledge as to how to properly spend this money. Therefore, other types of aid could be replaced. As a matter of fact, investing in weak/impoverished countries could be much more influential and will reduce poverty in a long term period of time. Investing, especially in the infrastructures of a poor country, will bring sustainable benefit to the people. For example, investment in the education system will definitely help them tackle their problems in a more efficient way. As a consequence to the abovementioned issue, I can conclude that investing in the infrastructures of a poor country could be a lot more beneficial to reduce poverty and could make/build/create a more brighter future for the people, rather than giving a direct amount of money to them.
