As languages such as English, Spanish and Mandarin become more widely spoken, there is a fear that many minority languages may die out. Some countries have taken steps to protect minority languages. What is your view of this practice? Hundreds of languages are teetering on the brink of extinction, and as researchers discover, we may lose more than just words if we allow them to die out. Major speaking languages like English, Spanish and Mandarin are becoming dominant while the minor languages speaked spoken by locals are in danger of becoming extinct. Many people along with officials are trying to prevent dying out of minority languages. The question is if language diversity can be preserved, or are we on the a path to becominge a monolingual species? There are some famous cases of languages dying out a language such as Asghar Agha's story in Iran who passed away in Save, a town south of Tehran, in 2010, taking the Saveie language with him. The smaller the number of the speakers, the harder it is to get an accurate headcount. I think we do not have any other option than preserving languages because languages they are conduits of human heritage, community songs, stories and poems. In other words, languages convey unique cultures and if we are to survive, to continue on and to exist as people with a distinct and unique culture, then we have to have a language. Languages are ways of interpreting the world, and no two are the same. As such, they can provide insight into neurology, psychology and the linguistic capacities of our species. Different languages provide distinct pathways of thought and frameworks for thinking and solving problems. In many local languages the speaker can express natural -related phenomenaon which than majority language speaking languages cannot. For example, English speakers are never exposed to a certain mood of a local animal, and consequently do did not need to have a word for it/that.For the abovementioned reasons and many others I could not mentioned here I strongly hold the idea of preserving minority languages. To me losing such languages means losing a culture, way of living and part of human history. I think not only is it on international organizations like UNESCO but every individual have has to do his best to prevent preserve/protect local languages.
