Many governments think that economic progress is their most important goal. Some people, however, think that other types of progress are equally important for a country.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.In recent years, some countries' only target is economic growth. It is inevitable that economic developments can bring about a prosperous future. However, some people cannot accept economic progress as a pivotal target because of its side effects, namely social and environmental. criteria. To start, as it has have been proved to everybody all over the world, developed countries have gained power as a result of economic progress. To a country, economy is like blood through the heart. A country with a strong economy is able to defend its borders because it can invest huge amounts financial resources in their military capabilities and provide facilities for its citizens such as improving infrastructures, job creation, providing international trade, higher salaries and educational developments. For example, Dubai is an Asian economic hub and not only has created made a large number of job vacancies for its citizens, but also has recruited a significant number of overseas workforce. In other words, a strong economy can assist a country in standing on the global stage, in terms of its political influence and trading power. Although, industrialization and success in trades have ensured economic stability to many countries, they have caused the environmental damage too. On the other hand, as a consequence of higher standards of living, people might have to lose their traditional values and uniqueness as a nation. It seems that change is the fundamental basis of development. Thus, if a nation is worried about its old way of living, it would fail to ensure that those developments are comparable compared with others. Rarely can you you can find a country which remains loyal to its traditional values and has not suffered from impoverishment.to sum up, I would argue that, there is no doubt that economic progress should be an uppermost aim for a government, but there are still many aspects which are important.
