Summary of Feminist Premises The women are pressured by patriarchy, economically, politically, socially, and psychologically. Patriarchal Ideology is one of the main reasons keeping them under pressure. In every domain where patriarchy is dominant magistrate, the woman is an alien other;: she is marginalized, defined only by her difference from male norms. Defined by what she lacks and what that men possess/have. All of the western civilization is rooted in patriarchal Ideology. As we see earlier, the appearance and development of the great literary works, including traditional fairy tales, was a product of patriarchal Ideology. Although biology defines our sex(male and female), culture defines our gender(masculine and feminine).from the viewpoint point of view of most feminists, the word gender refers not to our anatomy but to our behavior……………. I behave like a woman (for example: submissively) , not because It is natural for me to do so but because I was taught to do so. In fact all the attributes behavior we associate with masculine and feminine behavior are learned/acquired and are not inborn. The main goal of feminist activity, including feminist theory and literary criticism, is to change the world by making gender’s equality. Gender issues have a play a major/pivotal role in every aspects of human production and experience, including the production and experience of literature, weather we are aware of these issues or not.
