Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures do you think might be effective? Over the last two decades there has been a massive increase in the number of vehicles on the road. It can be attributed to the purchasing buying power of people undoubtedly. This trend has led to traffic problems and pollution in big cities. A group of people believes that the best way to solve such problems traffic problems and pollution is to increase fuel prices. I actually don’t agree with this idea beacause. Insomuch we should contemplate/bear in mind the ripple effect of this decision. Increasinge the price of petrol causes people to think twice before using their personal vehicles, but this price hike could effects affect on basic requirement for transportation. Any hike in the price of petrol can cause an the overall inflation. It brings hardship in daily commuters. Such trends result in skewed supply chain relationship of petrol as a commodity. There are also alternatives that the government could explore to curb pollution and traffic in big cities. For this propose, the government could decentralize urban areas and develop small cities. Moreover, developing the infrastructure by constructing flyovers and alternate routes is a viable alternative. The government can also develop a metro rail network connecting key hubs. In addition, modifying school timings could be another procedure for having a further ease. All this can reduce traffic congestion and pollution obstacle at the same time. To summarize, infrastructures development could be planned and implemented with the future vehicle number growth.
