Apart from many advantages, people think the internet has created some disadvantages too. To what intent do you agree or disagree? Ever since the advent of the internet people have wondered about the boon or curse of usinge the internet to the society. There is no denying the fact that it has benefited our society. From my point of view it also has caused various problems as well. Over the last decade, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of people who use the internet. They prefer to shop online. Now people perform banking transaction on the go. It has not only caused an extensive bulk of cyber‐crime but also made people wary of online banking because each year they totally lose money amounting to billions dollars. Social media addiction is another obstacle. The excessive use of social media is also known to cause several psychological problems. Among that, cyber‐bullying is on the rise. We can see that people’s privacy often gets violated on the internet. There have been several cases where victims of cyber‐bullying committed suicide, so the internet has wreaked wracked havoc with people’s lives. Social media has also caused alienation. In addition to this, anti‐social elements sell pirated movies, e‐books, CDs on the internet and it causes huge losses to the industry. Nowadays, the internet provides limitless access to the obscene or violent content while surfing the web. Worse still, kids get exposed to this inappropriate content unwittingly. In conclusion, people have benefited in countless ways by the advent of the internet. But it also brings out numerous difficulties. It seems governments should introduce appoint/ provide/ lay stringent laws to deal with cyber‐crime. further, we should learn to use the internet more responsibly. 1. Reading 2 article 2.
