Task: governments should spent money on railways rather than roads. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Nowadays, governments need to spend more money on transportation rather than past, since the densitye of population is increasing rapidly and trading requires roads and railways. I believe that governments should invest more in railways rather than roads but they couldn't ignore spending money on roads. There are many reasons to spend more on railways some of which will be reviewed in this essay. First of all, trains are more friendly with the environment, since they do not use fuel which causes the harmful emissions. For instance, in jJapan trains are utilizing electricity rather than fossil fuels, hence they do not emit greenhouse gases, and besides as well as they don't leave remain any kind of residual which causes soil or water pollution. Secondly, the ability of trains to carry heavy goods cannot be compared with cars. These days there are many trains which are allocated to shipping the consignments and this type of transportation is more affordable and safer for traders, since the price and risk of accidents are is not comparable with road freight. Thirdly, in contrast with the past trains are equipped with facilities and amenities which make trains a remarkable choice for long distance trips, facilities such as bars, luxury restaurants, well equipped cabins ( cabin with comfortable bed, bathroom, TV and others),. Meanwhile, passengers can enjoy the environment as most (of the) railways passes through the virgin land and remote areas whereas they do not have such a chance while driving. In conclusion, I suppose governments should concentrate more and more on railways, since one of the criteria to recognize a country as a developed one is the length of it's its railways. On the other hand, we could not ignore roads since they play a vital role in transportation especially on short distance trips.
